Wine Description
The spectacular, opaque purple-colored 2001 offers an explosive nose of melted licorice, barbecue smoke, blackberries, crème de cassis, camphor, and graphite. Full-bodied with gorgeously rich, concentrated fruit, a layered texture, and tremendous purity.
Winemaker's Notes
(From 2009 Vintage) Ungratfed vines between 50 and 100 years old give birth to Numanthia, the estate’s signature wine. Low yields provide concentrated fruit of remarkable intensity and power, carefully nurtured during vinification.18 months’ ageing in French oak brings balance and structure. Wood aromas on the nose are coupled with notes of berries, cedar and liquorice in the mouth, closing with a long, silken finish.
