Winemaker's Notes
The Ontanon Gran Reserva is composed of Tempranillo and a small amount of Graciano, a grape that is indigenous to Rioja and according to tradition “gives thanks to the Tempranillo grape.” Gran Reserva wines are produced only in vintages of the utmost quality. At harvest the winemarker carefully selects the very best fruit that comes from our oldest vines. Gran Reservas must spend a total of five years in the winery (three in barrel and two in bottle) prior to release, and this aging lends a quality of subtle spice and integrated components of tobacco and dried fruit.
