(From 2007 Vintage) The 2007 Conde de Valdemar Reserva has a textbook nose of balsamic and spicy notes, dried herbs, pepper, a hint of mint, leather and smoke perfectly integrated with the red and black fruit. The palate shows a juicy, tasty wine, more spicy than fruity, clean and balanced.
(From 1993 Vintage) Bright cherry color, with sweet vanilla, cedar and spice on the nose. Rich and mouth filling, this outstanding Reserva is balanced by excellent acidity, medium tannins and a long, silky finish. 82% Tempranillo and 18% Mazuelo grapes, aged 26 months in American oak.
90 points, Wine Advocate February 2009 "The 2004 Reserva is a blend of 90% Tempranillo and 10% Mazuelo aged for 18 months in French and American oak. Dark crimson-colored, it reveals an alluring nose of cedar, spice box, tobacco, black cherry, and blackberry. On the palate it displays considerable finesse along with plenty of ripe, spicy red and black fruit, a silky texture, and excellent balance. This lengthy effort will continue to evolve for another 2-3 years and offer prime drinking from 2011 to 2020."
