(1988 Vintage) "The nose on the ’88 Clos St. Jacques is outstanding, offering up a mélange of black cherries, fraises du bois, grilled meats, herbs, coffee, sous bois and toasty oak. On the palate the wine is fullish, complex and intensely flavored, with a lovely core of sweet fruit, and a very long, meltingly tannic and bouncy finish of beautiful shape and grip. Just a lovely example of the vintage. 2006-2030...93." John Gilman 4/06
International Wine Cellar(this cuvee, the Clos de Beze and the Chambertin are aged in 100% new barriques Good bright red. Explosive, perfumed nose offers black raspberry, cassis, rose petal and spicy oak. Juicy, floral and aromatic in the mouth, with cassis and violet flavors that are sweetened but not overwhelmed by the new oak. Very dense, chewy, rich wine with superb persistence. This wine also showed a strong cassis character in vintages 1999 and 1996, notes Corinne.
