(2004 Vintage) Cos d'Estournel has become, in the eyes of the Great Wine lovers, the archetype of a certain style of virile elegance where the power excludes neither grace nor sweetness. Impressive in his youth by the intensity of its structure and the brilliance of its fruit, the wine of Cos d'Estournel evolves slowly to reach its full maturity (between 10 and 30 years) a melted and a wonderful aromatic complexity. The great vintages can achieve exceptional longevity, exceeding the century.

An inky/blue/purple color is accompanied by a compelling perfume of black fruits, subtle smoke, pain grille, incense, and flowers. With extraordinary richness, full body, and remarkable freshness, elegance, and persistence, this is one of the finest wines ever made by this estate. The good news is that it will be drinkable at a young age yet evolve for three decades or more. Kudos to winemaker Jean-Guillaume Prats and owner Michel Reybier.
