2002 Valley of Moon Cuvee de la Luna

Winemaker's Notes

(From 2007 Vintage) The black cherry, vanilla and sweet tobacco aromas are enhanced with rosemary and baking spice notes. Complex and concentrated black cherry and red currant flavors are integrated with rich oak and dark chocolate on the finish.

  • Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wines
59% Cabernet Sauvignon; 31% Merlot; 5% Cabernet Franc; 5% Petit Verdot. Sweet oak and suggestions of caramel are teamed with elements of berries and ripe cherries in both the buoyant aromas and somewhat polished flavors of this nicely balanced bottling, and fruit remains a constant from front to back. There is tannin enough to dissuade immediate drinking and a touch of heat shows at the finish, but a few years of age should make a good thing better.
