Saturated dark red. Superripe yet subdued aromas of gunflint, beefsteak tomato, dark chocolate, licorice and smoky oak. Then sweet, fat and full in the mouth, with almost exotic ripeness for the year. But the flavors of this rather voluptuous Hermitage are still inexpressive. Finishes plummy and long, with plenty of smoke and chocolate from the oak. This will need time.
