The aromatics of the 1997 Merlot are right where we want them: forward and engaging. There are great aromas of blueberries, cherries and red licorice that are typical of the variety. The palate is pure, dense red fruits, raspberries and blueberries, as well as stylish flavors of spice and toasty French oak. The wine has a very soft, elegant structure with supple tannins that support the lengthy finish.
