(2014 Vintage) A mild winter brought February bud-break. Though there was some rainfall, the drought continued a third year, and warm summer weather prompted a fast-paced harvest. Twenty-six fermented lots were blind tasted for assemblage. Zinfandel yields were low, giving carignane and petite sirah greater prominence. Sensuous flavors support a rich tannin structure. This superb vintage will be enjoyable over the next 7-8 years.
International Wine CellarModerately saturated ruby-red. Liqueur-like aromas of blackberry, licorice and caraway seed. Silky sweet, thick and concentrated; voluptuous and full. A powerful wine that manages to wear its alcohol gracefully. Rather gently styled for this bottling, with a looser structure and less grip than the best years. Finishes with even, rather fine tannins. Should offer substantial early pleasure.
