Wine Details

Wine Description

(From 2005 Vintage) Good deep red-ruby. Dark berries, black cherry and licorice on the nose, with a less exaggerated oak element despite the fact that this was aged in 95% new American barrels. With laid-back flavors of currant, plum and tobacco leaf. Finishes with substantial, slightly dry tannins and good persistence.

Winemaker's Notes

(From 2011 Vintage) Our 2011 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon is an elegant representation of Napa Valley Cabernet from a cool vintage. It presents an opaque garnet hue in the glass and reveals aromas of sandalwood and roasted meats. Flavors of vanilla, coffee beans and raspberries are buttressed by dusty tannins, firm acidity and a mouth-coating texture. Given proper cellaring, this wine should provide drinking pleasure through 2029.

Even with a slight green bean note in the nose, this wine has proven to be a solid performer over time and has developed a seamless mix of ripe cherries and vanillin oak in both nose and flavor. Its supple, rounded entry and smooth passage across the palate signal a wine that is nearing its peak stage of development, but there are no signs of "give up" here and another five years of rewarding drinking is entirely likely. $40 and one star when first reviewed.
