Chateau Cos d'Estournel Saint-Estèphe 2ème Grand Cru Classé

Wine Description

(1989 Vintage) Dense, old vine flavors of cassis and black fruit offset by refined mineral, liquorice and tobacco notes lead into this wine's layered, complex palate which is supported by a firm, focused backbone of sweet, ripe tannins and an elegant, balanced acidity on the extended finish.

Splurge wine. Garnet with brown, orange, and white rim variation. Nose of cherry, strawberry jam, leather, dry hay, blackberries, dry leaves, stewed tomatoes, sage. Perfectly integrated acids and tannins. Paired very well with wagyu strip steak but even better on its own. Intoxicating nose that goes on and on. Long finish.

(2004 Vintage) "Loads of currant and blackberry, with hints of Indian spices. Full-bodied, with velvety tannins and a long, caressing finish. Round and generous for the vintage. Best after 2011. 15,000 cases made."
