WA94 Drink The 1986 de Fargues was picked over four tries through the vineyard, with the heart of the harvest picked between October 26 and November 6 under nigh perfect humid conditions. It has an iridescent amber hue. The nose is soft and plush with scents of golden syrup, fresh fig and marmalade. There is real power here, but there is something also mellow and alluring. The palate is very sensual on the entry, a little lower in acidity than the 1988. There is great depth to the ‘86 with luscious marmalade and quince notes that inform the rounded, botrytis-rich finish. Marvellous. Tasted April 2013.

International Wine Cellar(1989 Vintage) Rating: 91(+?) - As reviewed by International Wine Cellar in Issue 79, July/August 1998. Knockout aromas of creme brulee, white chocolate and raisin; more expressive than the '89 Yquem at the same stage though not especially fruit-driven. Unctuous and very rich, but given cut and clarity by lively notes of orange peel and marmalade. Really lovely concentration and balance. Less evolved than the '88 below. Very long and stylish.
