Château Lynch‑Bages Pauillac 5ème Grand Cru Classé

Wine Description

5ème Cru Classé

  • User Avatar

RP86 Drink NOW A low key, miniaturized style of Lynch Bages, the 1981 exhibits notions of damp earth intermixed with red and black fruits, weedy tobacco, licorice and spice. Narrowly constructed, medium-bodied and beginning to dry out as the acids and tannins have begun to dominate, this Lynch Bages needs to be drunk ... soon.

(2006 Vintage) Deep ruby-red. Deeply pitched aromas of inky cassis, licorice, mocha and smoky, nutty oak. Fairly large-scaled and layered but dominated by its acid/tannin spine in the early going, displaying firm, coolish flavors of black plum, licorice and graphite. The lingering finish features substantial but ripe tannins. Give this at least a few years of cellaring before pulling the cork.
