Supple yet full-bodied, a typically fine Saint Julien that needs 8-10 years to reveal its rich and fruity, elegant flavors of cassis, vanilla and ripe blackberries.
RP82 drink now Fully mature, this narrowly constructed, angular, compact Ducru-Beaucaillou reveals a healthy medium ruby color with a little amber at the edge. The undistinguished nose offers straightforward, slightly diluted, curranty fruit and damp earth. High acidity has kept the wine fresh in the mouth, but there is not much depth, body, or length. Drink it up. Last tasted, 1/93.
International Wine Cellar(1995 Vintage) Bright dark ruby. Knockout perfumed nose of great purity: cassis, violet, minerals and bitter chocolate. A penetrating wine of outstanding vinosity and verve; offers great tensile strength. Youthfully tight, classic claret whose extremely long finish features very fine tannins. I'm not convinced Ducru has made a wine in recent vintages to equal its '95 and '96 releases. Drink 2005 through 2025.

Decanter(1983 Vintage) Rating: 3/5 - As reviewed by Decanter. Unexpectedly good nose. Well-structured mouthful, with good length and backbone.
