1947 Château d'Yquem Sauternes

Wine Description

(From 2008 Vintage) There is a lovely purity to the fruit and clear botrytis concentration, if less than in the great years. Has all the hallmarks of a fine, elegant Yquem. A very polished, well-presented sample.

Winemaker's Notes

(From 1998 Vintage) Knockout aromas of creme brulee, coconut, vanilla bean, honey and orange peel. Lush and seductively silky in the mouth.

The wine is massive on the palate, with layers of intensely ripe botrytis-tinged, exceptionally sweet fruit. Surprisingly well-integrated acidity, and a seamless, full-b...
