1940 Château d'Yquem Sauternes

Wine Description

(From 2008 Vintage) There is a lovely purity to the fruit and clear botrytis concentration, if less than in the great years. Has all the hallmarks of a fine, elegant Yquem. A very polished, well-presented sample.

Winemaker's Notes

(From 2005 Vintage) This has a deliciously pure feel, with juicy, inviting green plum, ginger, heather, creamed pineapple & Jonagold apple flavors all melded together & gliding through the lengthy finish, which echoes with lilting flowers & dried citrus notes.

(From 1986 Vintage) Rating: 0/5 - As reviewed by Decanter. Medium straw; inexpressive nose, some botrytis; medium-bodied, reasonable concentration, quite oaky, modest botrytis, lacks some vigour and verve, almost raisiny on finish, disappointing for Yquem
