(From 2011 Vintage) This process allowed the wine to develop its tannic structure slowly, which accounts for its aromas of coffee, chocolate, blackberry and anise. On the palate, taste plum and spice.
Intense purple red color with ruby hues. Aromas of black fruit jam and liqueur, with an elegant touch of smoke, vanilla and chocolate. Sweet attack and full- bodied tannins. Long and pleasant finish.
Very jammy on the nose with a nice leather surprise when you drink it. I normally shy away from 14% + because they usually taste more like liquor. This wine perfectly balanced the high alcohol content with leather instead of hoping the fruit would make up for it. I can't wait to buy this wine again.
Decanter(From 2004 Vintage) Rating: 4/5 - As reviewed by Decanter. Hints of redcurrant jam fruits, subdued, some raspberry hints. Sweet and spicy, dry, leathery backbone, nice integration and balance. Excellent long, spicy finish. Drink 2011-17 .
