(2006 Vintage) Dry farmed on the only terraced vineyard of our Stags leap District estate; this beautifully balanced port shows an elegant sweetness that is not at all cloying or syrupy. With Boysenberry and vanilla dominating the aromas, the flavors lean towards figs and cinnamon. The finish lasts for minutes, with dried blueberries, vanilla, and cream showing only after you have swallowed. Drink this port with some sharp, salty blue cheese or a square of intensely dark chocolate.
Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wines(2003 Vintage) Here is a rich and big-bodied Merlot with a bit of muscle and meat on its bones, but its richness and ample size come without undue debt to ripeness, and its focus is fixed on well-defined fruit. While more rustic than refined and underpinned by tannin enough to notice, it shows a soft edge or two and its slight turn to last-minute dryness sends a signal that it needs no more than a few years of age.
