Wine Description

The Opus One offers splendid aromas of blueberry, cassis, and blackberries. A creamy entry gives way to layers of complexity which unfold in the mid-palate with velvety tannins enrobing a center of concentrated black-fruit. Elegantly balanced, the acidity and core structure deliver a persistent finish with hints of dark chocolate.

(1996 Vintage) Rating: 92/100 - As reviewed by International Wine Cellar in Issue 90, May/June 2000. Bright full ruby-red. Pungent black raspberry, leather, game, chocolate, espresso, pepper and fresh herbs. Juicy, bright and very concentrated, with crunchy currant, tobacco and dark chocolate flavors supported and amplified by a firm spine of acidity. Long on personality. Finishes with dusty tannins and excellent length.

(1995 Vintage) "A shade more elegant and refined than the '94, yet sharing the delicious range of flavors, with bright black cherry, plum and floral notes. Turns smooth and polished.--Opus One vertical. Best from 2003 through 2014. 30,000 cases made."
