Winemaker's Notes

Our Brut Rosé offers a bouquet of ripe Pinot Noir fruit, rich with black cherry and strawberry notes. Part of the wine is initially fermented in the press, producing the soft fruity character that gives Brut Rosé its directness, while a small percentage of Chardonnay gives the wine power and structure. This more robust quality makes Brut Rosé a wonderful wine with many kinds of cuisine, ranging from Thai to Italian. Note: The Brut Rosé was formerly called "Blanc de Noirs." We have changed the name of this release to better reflect the wine's elegant nature.

Mumm's Blanc de Noirs has been a perennial CGCW favorite, but its name has been changed to Rose and, in this outing at least, it is a little less fruity and a bit more austere than what its style had heretofore been. A bit light in substance and sparing in yeast, it may be refreshing but could do with a more interest and depth.
