Wine Description

(2005 Vintage) Wine Spectator Review Coffee, cola and earth flavors run though this burly red. There's a core of plum fruit, and enough acidity to keep it lively. Muscular but well-integrated, with lots of oak. Grenache, Carignane, Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon. Best after 2008. Wine Tasting Notes The Melis shows a deep purple black color, with beautiful aromas of black cherry, tobacco and violets, as well as unique mineral notes derived from the licorella slate of our vineyards. The palate is full and rich, with a silky texture balanced by fine tannins and a long finish. We recommend decanting this wine 30 to 60 minutes prior to drinking. (hide)

(2005 Vintage) Rating: 91/100 - As reviewed by Wine & Spirits Magazine on 10/09. Balanced at the heights of superripeness, this wine tastes of figs and chestnuts, of the warmth of alcohol and the wild stoniness of Priorat tannin. It's massive and strong, set to match something equally powerful, such as wild boar roasted with dried fruit.
