Josh Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon has aromas of rich, dark fruits and baking spices on the nose, which yield fresh plum and blackberry fruit, violet, dried fig, vanilla bean and Chinese Five-Spice. The wine is juicy with plum and blackberry flavors prominent, layered with smoky and sappy maple wood, roasted almonds and hazelnuts that finishes long with fine, firm tannins.

Our 2007 Winemaker’s Select Merlot is a fruit-forward, expressive wine with vivid and accessible flavors. Carefully selecting vineyards that showcase the nuances of the Merlot grape variety help achieve our goal of crafting a distinctive California red wine. In 2007 the weather was very dry. The vineyards saw a minimal amount of rain, and temperatures remained cool throughout the winter and spring. The mild winter and spring delayed bud break and extended the harvest overall, enabling the fruit to develop slowly. Yields were significantly smaller than past vintages, but the quality of the fruit was excellent. Our 2007 Blackstone Winemaker’s Select Merlot displays toasted oak and brown sugar aromas followed by bright raspberry and plush black cherry flavors. Round and expressive, this complex but accessible wine pairs perfectly with beef tenderloin, wild mushroom stew, or planked salmon.
Visitors to the winery often ask what "Reserve" chardonnay means to us. It's simple. Reserve translates into the winemaking team's careful blend of individual wines made from time tested, meticulously farmed sections of some of the very best vineyards in Russian River Valley. Each lot is vinified separately in our finest barrels, and shortly after completion of malolactic fermentation, select lots are assembled in tank to facilitate flavor integration, and returned to barrels to complete the aging process. The final selection is literally is a matter of taste.
Our Reserve chardonnay is created in a small lot winemaking facility, our "winery within the winery." Under the direction of consulting winemaker David Ramey, we employ cutting edge techniques such as whole cluster pressing, "double dry" barrel fermentation, and unfiltered bottling. With small tanks and equipment sized for the most discriminating vineyard selection process, our facility is truly state of the art, and represents the Klein family commitment towards producing the finest wines possible.
The 2009 vintage started much like the previous two, with a dry spring that was mild enough to keep the frost away. The heart of the growing season was cool to warm without incident, ideal for ripening the cool-loving chardonnay vineyards that blanket the gentle rolling hills of Russian River Valley. Picking began on September 11th, with all our reserve chardonnay grapes harvested by the 26th.
Frequent stirring of the lees during barrel aging added a creamy texture to an already full-bodied wine, making for a rich, round mouth feel, balanced with vibrant acidity. Powerful aromas of spiced apple, pear, and pie crust join minerally lemon-cream and toasty oak on the palate, adding up to a compelling and thoroughly satisfying experience for true Chardonnay lovers.

Garnet violet color. Aromas of roasted nuts, latte, and dried berries with a supple, dry-yet-fruity medium body and a zesty, chocolate citrus peel, bacon bits, and earth accented finish with fine chewy tannins. Excellent balance and flavor for a wide range of foods.
The 2006 Merlot, Napa Valley is our second Cab Lovers Merlot! Lavender and ripe cherry components are evident in the nose. Favors of spice, cherry and chocolate make this wine ideal for any BBQ dish. The finish is long and graceful. A perfect balance of fruit, tannins, and acids make this wine very cellar worthy. This wine is a blend of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. 75% Merlot, and 25% Cabernet Sauvignon. We felt that the Cabernet Sauvignon really improved the structure of this wine. We anticipate this wine to age at least 10 to 12 years in the bottle.

Very dark ruby color, almost opaque, with slow rosy legs. No sediment. The intensity of the aroma is medium and sports very dark berry and cigar, asian spices, roses, baby powder, and a light dill & oak influence. The palate smooths out on day two and starts with grippy, Old World rustic tannins that get chased away by a wave of fruit and minerals. Like a berry-cement smoothie. Those minerals seem to join the prominent acidity to stretch out the flavors much longer on the finish than I expect in this price class. Very food friendly structure.

On the palate, this medium-weight wine is graceful and inviting with abundant red fruit notes of raspberry, cherry and plum, as well as more sophisticated elements of forest floor and tobacco leaf, all supported by firm, age-worthy tannins and a streak of uplifting acidity.

A warm dry spring brought an early bud break and created ideal conditions for flowering and fruit set. In the weeks after Labor Day, a moderate heat event followed by a period of perfect weather created a dream scenario for end-of-season ripening.
