Josh Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon North Coast

Wine Details

Wine Description

Decoy Pinot Noir highlights a plush and approachable expression of Pinot Noir that is crafted to be ready upon release. The aromas offer enticing layers of ripe strawberry, French plum, loganberry and anise, with hints of blueberry, cola and spice. On the palate, this medium-weight wine is graceful and inviting with abundant red fruit notes of raspberry, cherry and plum, as well as more sophisticated elements of forest floor and tobacco leaf, all supported by firm, age-worthy tannins and a streak of uplifting acidity.

Dark ruby red in colour, with a nose of black fruits, roasted hazelnuts and vanilla. The palate is supple, well-balanced and velvety.

Very dark ruby color, almost opaque, with slow rosy legs. No sediment. The intensity of the aroma is medium and sports very dark berry and cigar, asian spices, roses, baby powder, and a light dill & oak influence. The palate smooths out on day two and starts with grippy, Old World rustic tannins that get chased away by a wave of fruit and minerals. Like a berry-cement smoothie. Those minerals seem to join the prominent acidity to stretch out the flavors much longer on the finish than I expect in this price class. Very food friendly structure.

A very attractive wine. Its elegant, well-integrated oak, and finesse make La Couronne very enjoyable in its youth.

An off-dry, medium-bodied, juicy, white wine with baked apple, pear, and toast.

Visitors to the winery often ask what "Reserve" chardonnay means to us. It's simple. Reserve translates into the winemaking team's careful blend of individual wines made from time tested, meticulously farmed sections of some of the very best vineyards in Russian River Valley. Each lot is vinified separately in our finest barrels, and shortly after completion of malolactic fermentation, select lots are assembled in tank to facilitate flavor integration, and returned to barrels to complete the aging process. The final selection is literally is a matter of taste.
Our Reserve chardonnay is created in a small lot winemaking facility, our "winery within the winery." Under the direction of consulting winemaker David Ramey, we employ cutting edge techniques such as whole cluster pressing, "double dry" barrel fermentation, and unfiltered bottling. With small tanks and equipment sized for the most discriminating vineyard selection process, our facility is truly state of the art, and represents the Klein family commitment towards producing the finest wines possible.

The 2009 vintage started much like the previous two, with a dry spring that was mild enough to keep the frost away. The heart of the growing season was cool to warm without incident, ideal for ripening the cool-loving chardonnay vineyards that blanket the gentle rolling hills of Russian River Valley. Picking began on September 11th, with all our reserve chardonnay grapes harvested by the 26th.

Frequent stirring of the lees during barrel aging added a creamy texture to an already full-bodied wine, making for a rich, round mouth feel, balanced with vibrant acidity. Powerful aromas of spiced apple, pear, and pie crust join minerally lemon-cream and toasty oak on the palate, adding up to a compelling and thoroughly satisfying experience for true Chardonnay lovers.

Garnet violet color. Aromas of roasted nuts, latte, and dried berries with a supple, dry-yet-fruity medium body and a zesty, chocolate citrus peel, bacon bits, and earth accented finish with fine chewy tannins. Excellent balance and flavor for a wide range of foods.

A beautiful ruby color, this wine comes from a satellite appellation of Saint-Émilion delivers a fine bouquet of ripe fruit with woody and roasted notes. mouth offers a supple and round material, marked by notes of cherry, licorice leather and very greedy. Tannins, well covered, including devoid of aggression, guaranteeing a well controlled. Breeding

Full-bodied and flabby this obscure dry white is loaded with apple, apricot, pear, and salt.

At Blackstone Winery, we believe in creating approachable and enjoyable wines from premium vineyards throughout California. Our 2007 Winemaker’s Select Merlot is a fruit-forward, expressive wine with vivid and accessible flavors. Carefully selecting vineyards that showcase the nuances of the Merlot grape variety help achieve our goal of crafting a distinctive California red wine. In 2007 the weather was very dry. The vineyards saw a minimal amount of rain, and temperatures remained cool throughout the winter and spring. The mild winter and spring delayed bud break and extended the harvest overall, enabling the fruit to develop slowly. Yields were significantly smaller than past vintages, but the quality of the fruit was excellent. Our 2007 Blackstone Winemaker’s Select Merlot displays toasted oak and brown sugar aromas followed by bright raspberry and plush black cherry flavors. Round and expressive, this complex but accessible wine pairs perfectly with beef tenderloin, wild mushroom stew, or planked salmon.

Josh Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon has aromas of rich, dark fruits and baking spices on the nose, which yield fresh plum and blackberry fruit, violet, dried fig, vanilla bean and Chinese Five-Spice. The wine is juicy with plum and blackberry flavors prominent, layered with smoky and sappy maple wood, roasted almonds and hazelnuts that finishes long with fine, firm tannins.

True to its name this is the kind of wine that will shake you up good, with burnt caramel and vanilla weaved between gobs of black cherry jam, bacon bits, coffee, and dark chocolate. Big and chewy, this might be just the wine for the cigar lover in your life.

Young, intense, vibrant and full-bodied, with rich dark berry fruit and firm, gripping tannins. Shows impressive density, but remains a little raw around the edges.

This is a very rich, ripe, flamboyant Pinot, made in the lush California style. It’s flashy in complex tiers of raspberries, cherries, red currants, licorice, cocoa and cinnamon spice, yet is silky and dry.

Fresh, Zesty Sauvignon Blanc with excellent floral characters and overtones of gooseberries. A classic Marlborough Sauvignon.

A light ruby red. Fine, delicate and persistent bouquet with characteristic trace scents of strawberry and raspberry. Pleasantly bitterish, velvety, at once elegant and full.

This classic red is made from 100% Syrah grapes and has warm raspberry and blackberry fruit flavours streaked with subtle hints of liquorice.

Ripe and fleshy, with rich plum, wild berry, spice and savory herb notes that are complex, full-bodied and expansive on the palate, ending with firm tannins and a dash of espresso.

A smooth, mouth-filling wine with aromas of blueberry, blackberry and mint; soft tannins to finish.

Lean, trim and a touch earthy and cedary, with an herbal slant to the currant and black cherry.

The 2006 Merlot, Napa Valley is our second Cab Lovers Merlot! Lavender and ripe cherry components are evident in the nose. Favors of spice, cherry and chocolate make this wine ideal for any BBQ dish. The finish is long and graceful. A perfect balance of fruit, tannins, and acids make this wine very cellar worthy. This wine is a blend of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. 75% Merlot, and 25% Cabernet Sauvignon. We felt that the Cabernet Sauvignon really improved the structure of this wine. We anticipate this wine to age at least 10 to 12 years in the bottle.

This lively red wine with a forthright fruitiness, tingle and quaffability that bursts in the mouth is a charming complement to all your favorite ethnic foods such as Indian, Spanish, Chinese, or even burgers.

Wine Profile Vineyard Notes Appellation: Napa Valley 1 Vineyard Harvested Production Notes Varietal Content 100% Merlot Cooperage 100% French Oak Château-style Barrels (60 Gallons) Barrel Aging: 15 Months Age of Barrels: 50% new, 50% second vintage Winemaker Notes From its flavors of raspberry, Bing cherry, cranberry relish, cocoa nibs, red licorice and lavender to its velvety texture, this wine showcases all of the qualities that we prize in great Merlot from Carneros. Firm, yet giving, on the palate, with hints of Mission fig and fennel pollen, it is a compelling wine that languidly reveals itself in layers. Production The 2013 harvest was early, even and excellent with all of our Estate fruit in the winery by October 10th. A warm dry spring brought an early bud break and created ideal conditions for flowering and fruit set. In the weeks after Labor Day, a moderate heat event followed by a period of perfect weather created a dream scenario for end-of-season ripening. Rain was not a factor, and for the second vintage in a row, the quality of the grapes was exceptional throughout Napa Valley. Other Notes Release Date: March 2016

Repetir.

If a little in the light and fruity mold, this likeable young wine is one to remember when the gang comes to call. Its direct cherry and vanilla character is carried by a somewhat rounded, slightly supple texture in the mouth, and while never a "strong" wine, it is well-balanced and reliable.

In 2010, a wine lover has a wide variety of choices when it comes to buying great wine. With so many choices, I'm always perplexed on my wine buying days. I usually find myself choosing a local wine; it seems I can always find a delicious light red or a stunning, crisp white at a great price. A perennial favorite from one of New York's best (and most famous) wineries, the 2009 Semi-Dry Riesling from Dr. Frank is a contender for Wine of the Year. Offering sweet yet restrained citrus and ripe peach on the nose that melds perfectly with the mouthwatering acidic structure in the mouth, it's the perfect wine with a light meal, or on a cool fall night. In the overcrowded world of mid-priced wines from across the globe, this one steps up to the mic and exclaims, "Uncork New York!"
