(From 2012 Vintage) Hints of vanilla and cocoa dust add complexity to the rich aroma. Flavors: Smooth entry, with lively ripe, fresh berries followed by vanilla and cocoa flavors that fill the palate. Smooth and textural, with generous body and supple tannins. Very well balanced. The finish evokes dark cherry and sage, with hints of allspice and vanilla that linger seamlessly.
Ripe black cherry and plum aromas mingle with toasty oak and a hint of leather. Flavor: In the mouth, ripe black cherry, plum and currant flavors are beautifully in balance with sweet oak carrying through to a long finish. Tannins are supple and round.
Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wines(From 2000 Vintage) 5% Merlot; 5% Cabernet Franc. Although launched by its nicely composed aromas of very rich oak and deep, precisely focused black currant fruit, this tight, slightly stiffly balanced Cabernet runs up against acid-pushed tannins at the eleventh hour, and never quite fulfills its early promise. Set it aside for a few years to let it find a softer stance.
