The 2015 is a blend of 92% Zinfandel, 5% Mourvèdre and 3% Syrah sourced from Old Potrero Vineyard, the dry farmed site managed by the Sran Brothers on the Central Coast in Arroyo Grande Valley. It was aged in 50% new American oak barrels for 10 months before being bottled. This is a ripe, juicy, crowd pleasing Zinfandel that will excite your friends when you bring it to summer barbecues, house parties or enjoy on your own when the mood strikes for a good red to pair with grilled steak or short ribs. The Mourvèdre and Syrah add backbone and tannin which mellows the normally jammy fruitiness of Zinfandel. Winemaker, Andrew Jones' tasting notes are so clever, we had to include them here: "Dusty, desert cherry hookah smoke with a touch of mint. Strawberry, roasted fig and smoked cherry flavors are wild and right. Ready for the Basque banquet hall on Lamb Shank Night or great out of Styrofoam with goat tacos from the Mercado." Like we said, share it with friends and you'll be very popular!
