(2010 Vintage) Château Pibran estate benefits from a prestigious, 17-hectare terroir on one of Pauillac’s most beautiful hilltops. The wines benefit from exceptional support, with the vinification process and technical monitoring both carried out by the Château Pichon Baron team.
2015 vintage -- open shelves parkade -- 022 -- twentytwo -- Park Royal, Oct2018, $78.00 -- 91 points, Jeannie Cho Lee said in March2016, "A delightful Pibran that has lively dark berry fruit with savory herbs, cedar and tobacco. A subtle, well made red with 50% Cabernet and 50% Merlot. Round, balanced with ripe tannins and good finish" -- 92 points, Jeb Dunnuck said, "A blend of equal parts Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon brought up in 50% new oak, the 2015 Château Pibran is a beautiful Pauillac that does well in a vintage which can be erratic for this appellation. Very classic notes of cassis, tobacco leaf, lead pencil shavings, and spice give way to a medium to full-bodied, elegant red that has fine tannin, nicely integrated acidity, and top-notch purity of fruit. This is a tiny estate owned by Pichon-Longueville Baron, and it’s a Pauillac well worth checking out. I suspect it’s also a great value and should keep for 15-20 years" -- 92 points, James Suckling said, "A very concise mid-weight wine that has attractive cherry and blackberry aromas and flavors arranged in a neatly presented frame of smooth tannins. Velvety finish and good depth. Try from 021" -- 92 points, Wine Enthusiast said, "This wine is spicy, packed with tannins that are well integrated with the black fruits. It is rich, it is round and it will develop quickly" -- 90 points, Decanter said, "Well-expressed, even Cabernet-Merlot blend showing crunchy black fruits. Clear and structured; will age well" -- 90 points, Vinous said, "The 2015 Pibran is ample, juicy and absolutely delicious, all qualities that make it an excellent choice for drinking now and over the next few years. Floral notes add lift to the racy, red stone fruit. The 2015 is an unusually polished, nuanced Pibran" -- 90 points, Wine Spectator said, "Black cherry and cassis flavors are fresh and pure, with gentle vanilla, licorice and singed alder notes filling in through the finish. Shows a flicker of savory on the bright finish. A very pure, charming Pauillac. Drink now through 028" --
