The 2015 Bolgheri Rosso is mostly Merlot with Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Syrah. The Merlot is harvested on the early side in order to preserve acidity, meanwhile the other varieties are harvested a bit later to add softness and roundness. In order to highlight the crispness of the fruit, one-fourth of the mass is aged in cement and the rest goes into various types of neutral barrel. This terrific wine boasts firm lines and a soft, cherry-driven core. The finish offers a quirky collection of exotic spice aromas that are mild and subtle. Some 130,000 bottles were produced. 91+

Packed with cherry and black currant flavors, this red is fruity and effusive. Firm, but the tannins are coated in flesh and the finish offers spice and mineral accents. Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah. Drink now through 2024. 1,200 cases imported. -BS

Made of 60% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Syrah, this offers heady black currant, plum and clove aromas. The smooth, juicy palate delivers ripe black cherry, tobacco and licorice flavors, with smooth, silky tannins. Enjoy through 2020.
