The Banshee Boys, Baron Ziegler, Noah Durrance and Steve Graf, are on quite a roll with consecutive vintages of killer Sonoma County Pinot Noirs. They had called their 2013 they best they'd made to date, then followed up with an even better wine in 2014. For the 2015 effort, they've continued to expand and improve their fruit sourcing and are happy to report that this new version comes from 17 different sites with 81% from the coveted cool climate vineyards of Sonoma Coast. The aging regimen has remained the same with 11 months in French oak barrels, 20% of which were new. Thus, the winemaking is consistent while the quality of the fruit has improved, making for an even better wine this time around. The boys describe it as "leading with a bouquet of red fruits and cherry blossom aromas. The silky palate is layered with notes of cherry, hibiscus, mandarin peel and a faint coppery counterpoint to the fruit. In addition, one might find a hint of dark plum. The finish is fine-boned and harmonious." We just call it one of the best values in California Pinot Noir one can find!
