Pine Ridge Chenin Blanc - Viognier

Wine Details

Wine Description

Brilliant and refreshing, this bottling of our remarkable blend bursts with an array of delightful aromas, opening with fresh lemon, juicy honeydew melon, pomelo and sweet mango, complemented by soft orange blossom and carnation floral notes. The palate is crisp and mouth-watering, leading with luscious papaya, yellow pear and ruby grapefruit flavors that are balanced by hints of sweet tangerine and white tea. The juicy fruit flavors linger through the clean and lively finish.

Your all-season “slam dunk” white is before you thanks to the renowned Napa Valley producer Pine Ridge! This surprising wine is a blend of two grapes, the versatile chameleon Chenin Blanc, and the floral and enticing Viognier. The match is a marriage made in white wine heaven. Floral aromatics followed by zesty, ripe fruits ensure both a taste of the familiar and a taste of the exotic. A cleansing dash of minerality and a zip of acidity moderate any out-of-check opulence. This wine is one standing at attention, delivering a brisk and cleansing finish. Scintillating conversation beckons!

Green apples and bright acid on the nose, very slightly effervescent, somewhat simple but pleasant and approachable. Finish is a bit too quick, but green apple tartness and a subtle bitterness persists.

Lots of pear, faint green apple, and honey. Not overly sweet and finished nicely. No sour after taste. This would be good with something like crab legs. Needs to be cold.

(2008 Vintage) This remarkable cuvee has been a great value for thrifty consumers for a number of years. The 2010 Chenin Blanc-Viognier (79% of the former and 21% of the latter) sells for a preposterously low price. Moreover, it is a 50,000 case lot so there is wide availability. Wonderfully crisp, elegant, fresh honeydew melon, spring flower, white peach and honeysuckle aromas soar from the glass of this zesty, dry, medium-bodied white wine. The melon character follows through on the palate of this pure, delicious, screw cap-finished effort. Enjoy it over the next year.
