The Colome Malbec is produced primarily from vines planted over 150 years ago. Bodega Colome vineyards are bio-dynamically and sustainably farmed at an altitude of 5,500 to 8,500 feet and are believed to be the highest vineyards in the world.
The cooler climate from the higher elevation shows in the wine. It has a deep purple color with great blackberry fruit, black licorice, some pepper, and very structured on the mid-palate. This Malbec needs a steak to go along with it.
Wine Spectator(2015 Vintage) Refined and rich-tasting, with effusive minerality to the red berry and cherry flavors, lathered with plenty of creamy accents. Pepper and cigar box notes show on the long and complex finish. Drink now through 2022. 27,300 cases made.–KM
