Carmenere was once a part of many Bordeaux blends and was transplanted to Chile in the 1800s. Today, Chile is one of the only countries to produce Carmenere, a late-ripening grape with deep color and a rich, soft texture. Primus Carmenere comes from Colchagua Valley, one of the best regions for this varietal. The grapes are hand-picked, double sorted, fermented and left on the skins after fermentation to extract deep color and rich flavors. The best lots of the vintage are selected, married to blend harmoniously and aged in French and American oak for a minimum of 12 months.
