Stag's Leap Wine Cellars Petite Sirah

Wine Details

Winemaker's Notes

(From 1996 Vintage) The wine has characteristically complex aromas of black cherry, sweet plums, caramelized orange-peel, apricots, pineapple, vanilla and white pepper spice. The firm structure supports bright citrus-orange, raspberry jam, coffee, leather and cedar flavors. A blend of 76% Petite Syrah, 22% Syrah and 2% Carignane.

(From 2001 Vintage) Here is a mid-sized Merlot that eschews strength and evident extract in favor of polish. Its mild black-cherry themes are given a lift by slightly creamy oak, and, if tending a little to dryness at the finish, it is a pleasant, lightly tannic and wholly useful wine for near- to mid-term drinking.
