Deep garnet in colour, the Petrus 2012 out of barrel has a more broody, but no less compelling bouquet compared to the 2011 last year that was more open. Here we find pure blackberry and raspberry fruit, a background of citrus fruit lending the aromatics freshness and a touch of cold stone. The palate is medium-bodied with a crisp, structured, quite compact entry that bides its time in the glass. (From 1994 Vintage) Bordeauxs most intensely concentrated, richly flavored and unique red wine. An incredible power, depth and richness yet a remarkable balance with penetrating aromas of ripe mulberry, black currant and fruit and spicy vanilla oak, setting it apart from all Bordeauxs finest wines.

Decanter(From 1985 Vintage) Rating: 0/5 - As reviewed by Decanter. Very deep red; sweet oaky nose, immensely stylish, discreet; very rich and concentrated, dense, powerful, tight, lacks a little zip but very impressive, chocolatey; very good length.
Robert Parker(From 1998 Vintage) "The 1998 Petrus is unquestionably a fabulous effort boasting a dense plum/purple color as well as an extraordinary nose of black fruits intermixed with caramel, mocha, and vanilla. Exceptionally pure, super-concentrated, and extremely full-bodied, with admirable underlying acidity as well as sweet tannin, it reveals a superb mid-palate in addition to the luxurious richness for which this great property is known. The finish lasts for 40-45 seconds. Patience will definitely be required. Production...
