Pinot Noir

Wine Description

The 2012 growing season produced exceptional Pinot Noirs throughout the Sonoma Coast and beyond. Like many of our 2012s, our Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir displays lush red fruit, with lovely spice and sassafras notes. Though already precociously inviting, it possesses the ample structure, acidity and tannins to age beautifully. On the nose, aromas of cherry, raspberry and plum mingle with notes of cedar, tobacco, smoked meat, fine herbs and forest floor. The mouthfeel is rich and fleshy, offering flavors of black cherry, raspberry, brown sugar and cardamom. Fresh, enlivening acidity from the relatively cool growing season balances this wine’s weight, and leads to a long, satisfying finish.

(2006 Vintage) Medium ruby-red. Captivating aromas of black fruits, violet, bitter chocolate, smoked meat and underbrush. Sweet, dense and expressive in the mouth, with briary black fruit flavors complicated by violet and meat and supported by a firm mineral spine. Tannins are firm by sweet. This is better than a "regional" pinot has any right to be, but then many Sonoma Coast vineyards carried tiny crop loads in 2005 due to poor weather during the flowering.
