This wine successfully integrates citrus rind and pip and fruit pit bitterness as well as adamant chalkiness into a palpably dense and as yet at best in small part scrutable matrix. This Chenin carved from stone nevertheless evinces a succulence of quince, grapefruit, and pineapple that anticipates harmonious richness for a decade or more. It finishes with implacable persistence.
Wine & Spirits(From 2006 Vintage) Rating: 91/100 - As reviewed by Wine & Spirits Magazine on 04/09. Richly textured and equally rich in flavor, this contrasts spicy stone fruit and melon flavors with a saline, savory minerality. It takes nearly an entire day to fully reveal itself, gradually exhibiting an array of flavors from fresh cream to honeycomb to white tea, and feeling energetic and deftly poised on the finish.
