Spice -- a hint of tobacco, a hint of milk chocolate -- gives way to a ripe set of fruit flavors in this big shouldered, thoroughly seductive red. This texture is driven by fine, peppery tannins, which stem the tide of ripe, plummy fruit, giving the wine a touch of elegance even as it remains irresistible.
My favorite go to wine for minimum open time to drink. I buy it at my local Sams Club, can't beat that convenience. Just vent by the glass in my Vinturi Aerator & game on!

Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wines(2000 Vintage) 14% Cabernet Franc; 1% Syrah. Tasting all too much like the inexpensive wine that it is, Chateau Ste. Michelle's basic bottling is on the skimpy side with respect to fruit and comes up thin, blunt and a little too dry in the mouth.

Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wines(2002 Vintage) The family formula is also evident in this bottling, and, while the obvious tannins are held in check until the very end, the all-too-quiet fruit is similarly played as an extra in the cast and makes but a brief appearance. The wine would serve in a pinch, but there are better choices elsewhere.
