The plum, boysenberry and raspberry fruit is very aromatic, carrying a glossy sheen as this glides along, picking up subtle anise, alder and tobacco notes slowly but steadily through the finish.
last bottle -- twenty -- 2012 vintage -- Ernie's rack row 3 -- 020 -- Park Royal Oct2015 $135.00 -- Bordeaux blend, 85% Merlot, 14% Cabernet Franc and a dab of Cabernet Sauvignon -- 93-95 points, Wine Cellar Insider, said in July2015, " Truffle, minerals, espresso bean, ripe plums and licorice create the perfume. On the palate, the wine is suave, and polished, with a sensuous display of fresh, sweet, mineral driven cherries" -- 94 points, Wine Enthusiast -- 94 points, Wine Spectator said, "Offers a solid, packed feel, with dense plum sauce, licorice and blackberry preserve flavors, pushed by ganache and graphite details. Despite the dense and fleshy feel, there's serious purity here. A violet note mingles with a lightly chalky echo through the lengthy finish. A terrific effort for the vintage. Best from '017 through '027" -- 16.5/20 Jancis Robinson -- 93 points, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate said, "Another wine made by the superstar guru Nicolas Thienpont, this well-situated property of 37 acres on the high clay/limestone plateau in St.-Emilion has produced a blend of 84 % Merlot, 14% Cabernet Franc and 2% Cabernet Sauvignon. A masculine, virile style of wine with an inky deep purple color, lots of crème de cassis and crushed rock and high tannin. This is thick and powerful, with a layered mouthfeel, good purity, earthiness and spice. Forget it for 4-5 years and drink if over the following two decades" --

International Wine Cellar(2007 Vintage) Bright red-ruby. Black cherry, violet, licorice and minerals on the nose. Sweet on entry, then juicy and firm in the middle, with dense black fruit flavors showing excellent energy for the year. The pH of 3.65 is relatively low for St. Emilion 2007 but high by the standards of this property. Finishes with building, oak-powered tannins and excellent verve for the year. This vineyard was harvested in just four days during the second week of October.
