(2012 Vintage) Located in one of the highest-plantable sites in the southern portion of the Santa Lucia Highlands in Monterey County known as the ”Mission District”. This pristine bench offers the vineyard cool, coastal days but it enjoys warmer afternoon temperatures and tamer winds than the northern portion of the appellation. The combination of this climate with site-specific farming consistently produces pinot noirs of great texture, depth and balance.
One of the more earthy of the American pinots out there, which reminds more of a Burgundian style than anything else. Most earthy or big American pinots have that cherry cola flavor, indicative of Oregon, but this one stands out for me.
Brian says velvety and I agree. Enjoying this in Napa and went perfectly with salmon and rib eye. Superbly versatile. Rich Pinot with great balance.
