In the glass, a ruby red wine with a magenta hue sets the stage for aromas of red fruits led by boysenberry, raspberry and cherry. Notes of layered white and black pepper, allspice and cinnamon all contribute to the classic "Zinny" character typical of Artezin. In the mouth, flavors of red fruit repeat, complemented by pomegranate and cherry. Rich and lush, the wine shows supple tannins that balance nicely between aging and immediate enjoyment.

Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wines(2006 Vintage) Here is a balanced, mid-sized look at Zinfandel whose tempered ripeness makes it one for the table. Its clean and nicely focused berryish fruit is not pushed aside by chocolate, nor does it give up to harshness or heat. It is fit with good acidity and just the right bit of firming tannins, and, while its balance will hold it in fine stead over the next two to four years, it will drink well with tomato-sauced pastas in the short term.
