Spice, lush black fruit flavors of Alexander Valley. Briary and raspberry flavors are present, along with structure of of cooler Dry Creek Valley. Overall, this is a balanced and elegantly structured Zinfandel.

Wine Spectator 92 Points. An excellent wine from a challenging vintage, with aromas of black cherry and spice opening to rich wild berry, mineral and toasty sage flavors that wrap around a concentrated core of acidity and tannins. Best from 2015 through 2021. Wine Guy: A short decant really brought out the best in this brambly, ripe, full-bodied Zinfandel. Aromas of candied black cherry and rich flavors of blackberry and black raspberry fruit are supported by silky tannins and bright acids that will allow you to pair this with more than just BBQ.
One of my favorites and great (almost) everyday wine. Loads of black berry flavors, but not overdone. Fruit is nicely balanced by good acidity and soft tannins add structure.
Definitely full bodied, with lots of luscious fruit flavors. I had this with a good steak and it enhanced the flavor but I could have had this on its own, too.
Fruit taste without being overly sweet. Lightly chocolatey.

Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wines(2006 Vintage) Well-defined berryish fruit is the centerpiece in both the outgoing aromas and the full, fleshy flavors of this weighty effort, yet, for all of its volume and richness, it stays nicely on the varietal track with its background notes of dry spices and briar. It is youthfully exuberant and somewhat juicy in character, and it will be at its best in service with savory roasts of pork marinated in brine and basted with young port.
International Wine Cellar(2006 Vintage) Ruby-red. Rich dark berry, cherry and plum aromas are complicated by smoky herbal and floral qualities. Fleshy and round, offering deep, jammy dark fruit flavors and sweet vanillin oak spice. Really stains the palate, finishing sweet and persistent. This already-approachable zinfandel leaves a strong blackberry quality behind.
