Merryvale Cabernet Sauvignon Starmont Napa Valley
The 2011 Starmont Cabernet Sauvignon displays blueberry, vanilla, cinnamon, ripe plum, lavender and bramble on the nose. Sweet, soft tannins are framed with fresh acidity and flavors of ripe plum and chocolate on the finish.

Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wines(2003 Vintage) The least of the Merryvale 2003s is beset by dried forest, old wood and vaguely leathery notes that all but submerge sweeter scents of cherries and oak in the nose. The wine has a rounded feel at entry but is thin in flavor despite being full in body and high in ripeness. Pass it by.
Critics Challenge(2003 Vintage) Rating: Critics Challenge 2006 Gold - As reviewed by Critics Challenge on 05/01/06. Pure but powerful with deep, dark fruit notes and ripe tannins. Michael Franz

Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wines(2004 Vintage) 12% Merlot. This straightforward offering comes with few bells or whistles, but it delivers honest Cabernet fruit and a nice bit of balanced oak spice. It is medium-full-bodied and fairly well-balanced even if toughening up just a touch in the latter-going, and it will benefit by a few years of smoothing while serving as a foil to hearty roasts early on.
