Wine Details

Wine Description

(2014 Vintage) The Viognier depicts vine cuttings. Vine cuttings are the beginnings of a new vineyard, planted after careful sorting, grafting and bundling in our state-of-the-art Yalumba Nursery. This thoroughly alluring wine evokes hints of honeysuckle, lemon and lychees.

Julius Squeezer - 1/21/2012 Rating: 86 The Yalumba wines are always an awesome value and this one does not disappoint. Honeyed nose of apricots, wildflowers and apple. Same on the palate with a lip smacking finish. Nesto - 11/20/2011 Rating: 89 Surprising. Stuffy nose, so hard to pick out aromas - some grapefruit and grass. Peaches and pineapple with nice acidity and minerality in the background. Just a hint of sweetness too. Went well with some spicy Afghan food. chifred - 10/2/2011 Rating: 88 Medium greenish yellow, clear. vibrant nose of pineapple, grass and stone fruit. Complex flavor with some tropical fruit, citrus, almond, something sharpish and something funky/organic. Nice medium finish. Good acid. Nicely balanced. Great value. Nice change of pace when yet another chardonnay, sauvignon blank or vouvray sounds oppressive. SLIMES - 9/17/2011 Excellent QPR as ever. When I eat thai, I like to keep the budget down and this wine works perfectly with this kind of food. I'm happy to spend £80 for a wine to go with a steak, but there's foods for which less is more; and there's little need to spend up from this if I'm having something spicy. tward - 9/6/2011 Rating: 85 Better than I expected; no notes taken, very good QPR, this is a bigger, riper Viogner that has a somewhat rich mouthfeel, but has firm enough acids, nice nose of white flowers, some honey and citrus, and tropical fruits (pineapple).

Bright yellow straw with green tinges, the 2009 Y Series Viognier has an eclectic mix of aromas, namely orange blossom, fresh ginger, camomile floweres and hazelnuts. The palate displays richness and texture from wild fermentation and lees aging with the flavours characterised by grapefruit pith, ginger and lemongrass. A clean, persistent finish, complemented by some exotic spices, this wine will reward if served with Thai-style dishes such as pad thai or pandan chicken.
