Silverado Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon Stags Leap District
(1999 Vintage) Well-structured, firm, focused and filled with rich, dark black cherry, cassis, plum, chocolate and complex herb notes. Tannins are silky and smooth leading to a polished finish.
Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wines(2003 Vintage) Compact and undeveloped in the nose with glimmers of cassis sitting beneath its top notes of dusty spice, this wine starts out with a bit of glyceriney roundness on the palate but snaps shut as mouth-drying tannins come to the fore. Its astringency calls for considerable age, but its essential fruit seems a little light for optimistic keeping.
