Patz & Hall Dutton Ranch Chardonnay

Wine Details

Patz & Hall

Wine Description

(From 2006 Vintage) One of our finest incarnations of the DUTTON RANCH Russian River Valley Chardonnay to date, this bright, enticing wine benefits from the addition of old-vine Wente selection fruit from the Dutton’s Walker Hill block located in the cool climate of the Green Valley. From its wonderfully effusive aromas of stone fruit, green apple and narcissus to its pure fruit flavors of pineapple, peach and spicy pear, this Chardonnay offers an intricate, plush, creamy palate and a long, textured finish that combines finesse with dense, structured acidity.

Winemaker's Notes

With a long, cool summer that promoted even ripening and ample hangtime, the 2010 growing season proved excellent for Burgundian varietals. In broad strokes, there is beautiful freshness to this wine, with clearly delineated vineyard character. At the same time, the modest crop size in 2010 has contributed to amazing concentration, spotlighting notes of spiced tropical peach, pear, honeydew, clove and narcissus. The mid-palate is vibrant and bright, combining delicate, mouthwatering acidity with rich fruit, all surrounded by subtle, oak-inspired notes of cinnamon, spiced toffee and roasted almonds.
