(From 2014 Vintage) An alluring inky-purple achievement, the 2014 Abstract is replete with a vivid nose of red and black stone fruits, candied cherry, cassis, dried floral notes, and sweet oak accents. Fleshy and spirited, the wine evolves into a very complex flavor profile of dark berry preserve, raspberry jam, Asian spices, mocha, chaparral, and a hint of crushed rock minerality. An underlying acidity leads to a graceful fine tannin chain that is seemingly endless. A blend of Grenach, Petite Syrah and Syrah
very juicy and fluid, Grenache heavy, blackberries and ash. The second release of this Grenache-based blend from Dave Phinney, the creator of the popular, critically acclaimed Zin-based blend, the Prisoner. Using fruit from Napa, Sonoma and Mendocino counties, mostly from hillside vineyards, with Petite Sirah and Syrah supporting the juicy Grenache fruit. Think cherries, strawberries and crushed blackberries with mouthcoating tannins and balancing acidity.
the fruit tasted a little cooked. other than the label this wine is average at best.
