International Wine Cellar(2006 Vintage) Deep ruby. Powerful aromas of blackberry, plum jam, cracked pepper and violet; really smells like the northern Rhone. Fleshy red and dark berry flavors are given lift by tangy minerals and refreshing bitterness by cherry skin and pit notes. The peppery quality repeats on the long, brisk finish. This will be enjoyable young.
Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wines(2004 Vintage) Sweet, ripe and blousy but fairly amorphous relative to defined fruit or spice, this big-bodied wine is a bit heavy-footed and its mix of heat, a soft underbelly and bitter tannin relegate it to the back of the pack.
