Giesen Sauvignon Blanc

Wine Details

Wine Description

(2012 Vintage) This style was created by Giesen and we have been refining it since the first 2009 vintage release. We aim to show a richer expression of Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc. The complexity and depth of aroma and flavour is a result of hand harvesting low yielding vines, barrel fermentation with wild yeast and extended maturation on lees. The palate has a purity achieved by whole bunch pressing which enhances the flavour profile and retains a lovely acidity. To this, extra textural and secondary flavour dimensions as well as length are added by time in seasoned French oak barrels on yeast lees.

  • Wine & Spirits
(2008 Vintage) Aromas of lemon, grapefruit and passionfruit, plus touches of fresh green grass, dazzle the olfactory. The German word "giessen" means "to water," an appropriate homophone. The rush of vibrant fruit and lively acidity is enough to quench any wine lover's thirst for layered citrus refreshment. The dry, bracing core finishes very cleanly, with a flourish of light grapefruit.

(2015 Vintage) Pretty, engaging, light and crisp with notes of lemon grass, dill, cucumber, and peach skin.
