Wine Description

(WA93) A stunning effort and showing the class of the vintage, the 2010 Chateauneuf du Pape is comprised of 70% Grenache, 20% Syrah and 10% Mourvedre that spent 24 months in foudre prior to bottling. Rich, textured and medium to full-bodied, with ample black cherry, olive tapenade and subtle meatiness, this traditional effort stays pure and lively, with fine tannin emerging on the finish. It can be consumed now or cellared for over a decade.

(1996 Vintage) Medium red. Aromas of leather, smoke, red cherry and gibier. Vinous and moderately ripe, but with sneaky vinosity and nicely delineated flavors. Notes of pepper and leather. Finishes with firm tannins and good freshness and grip. A juicy, food-friendly wine.

(2001 Vintage) Rating: 90/100 - As reviewed by International Wine Cellar in Issue 112, January/February 2004 ($40) Deep red. Roasted raspberry, strawberry, pepper, spices and exotic dried herbs on the nose. Suave and lively in the mouth, with red fruit and garrigue flavors framed by ripe acidity. Spicy and perfumed in the mouth, with enticing but restrained sweetness. Finishes very fresh and persistent, with fine-grained tannins. Delicious already.
