Our Chardonnay is grown from the California heritage Wente Clone, which produces small clusters and berries and has a notable minerality with an almost oily viscosity. We ferment and age the Chardonnay in French oak barrels with full malolactic fermentation. We planted our Chardonnay vines between 1975 and 1988 on a variety of exposures in Goldridge series soils. Careful leafing allows dappled light to reach the clusters and we thin to balance the crop load.

Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wines(From 2005 Vintage) Elements of ripe apples and green are overlain in the nose by a blanket of rich oak, and the promise of substance is met by the wine's ample flavors. Fairly ripe, a tad ragged and showing a bit of last-minute heat, the wine has the fruit to ensure a few years of age, and aging is recommended as there is still knitting and softening to be done here.
