(2010 Vintage) The young Footbolt Shiraz boats rich spice, peppery mulberry and blackberry fruit aromas. Chocolate, stewed plum, mint and cedar pepper and cinnamon follow these primary fruit characters. On the tongue, the Footbolt Shiraz maintains a wonderfully textured palate with significant bottle age. Gentle, grainy black olive flavors balance the sweeter coffee, chocolate and occasional mint characters. This is followed by a traditional, long, velvety, fine grained tannin finish.
"Bright purple. Impressively perfumed aromas of powerful dark berries and musky herbs. Fresh, spicy blackberry and cassis flavors are enlivened by tangy minerals and sweetened by a suggestion of floral pastille. Takes a slightly bitter turn on the chewy finish, leaving an impression of licorice. Serve this with something smoky." 89 Points
Very stiff and tightly structured upon first opening. The wine opens up after some aeration with tremendous flavors and mellowed acidity.
